Halfway through August

This month has been pretty eventful thus far. I finished up all my classes, and I finally got my grades this past week. All the grades were good, and I'm excited to be done with summer semester! Unfortunately, because I procrastinated I only get about a week, week and a half break before fall semester starts, but I'm okay with that! It's my last semester for the foreseeable future! I'm hoping I'll be done with school for a really long time, but I also thought I would never go for a masters, so I guess we'll see how that goes.
I've had my first graduation committee meeting, which reminds me I need to write up the notes from the meeting and send it to everybody. I volunteered to be the secretary, so I could possibly be a little busier than I planned for the upcoming semester, but I'm excited. The end is in sight, and the celebration will be in January! I've already started getting my books, which is good considering the semester starts on Wednesday.
I went on my first boating trip in many, MANY years this last Monday, and it was a blast! It was a ward activity, and I was there basically from start to finish, which was about 11 hours. The first 7 hours were spent mostly in the water, tubing and swimming, and just hanging out. It was a lot of fun, and there were pictures, so hopefully I'll have something to show soon (I didn't take any of the pictures though). After 7 hours, I decided to take a break for dinner, and that's when the burns started to be felt. I'd felt warm for awhile, but I'd applied sunscreen twice, so I figured I was safe. Nay nay, I was burnt to a crisp! And I'd beat up my knees with all the tubing I did. Once the burn and pain started to set in, I did my best not to move too much, and I tried to stay out of any sunlight, which was hard considering the sun was starting to set. By the time I got home my body was burning, and at the same time I was cold. Probably got heat or sun stroke, and I didn't go into work the next day. I spent most of the day laying on a sheet on the couch trying not to move, get too hot, get too cold, and watching tv. Almost a week later, and I'm still not completely healed. Some of my burns have started peeling, which is both annoying and intriguing to watch. I'll be happy when my skin is nice and hydrated again, and I won't have to worry about this. I'm not even sure that I'll have a good tan after this because of all the peeling, but such is life. Oh, and I developed huge, ugly cold sores on Thursday.
The boating trip and my mini vacation this upcoming weekend is my summer vacation. I'll be heading up to Spokane to visit some friends and to see the museum I'm writing a grant for. I haven't seen these friends in awhile, so it will be good to see them, their kids, and of course their adorable perma-puppy. It will be nice to relax, play, and visit before the new semester starts at work.
Once again, I can't believe how time flies! The month is already half over, and I can't wait until the end of the year!
