Jury Summons
At the beginning of February I got a Jury Summons in the mail. I filled out the questionnaire thing and faxed it since the court system is severely out of date and I couldn't do it online. I completely forgot about it until last week when I got the actual summons in the mail. I had to call Friday after 5:00pm, and was happy to see I didn't have to go in on Monday. I called Monday, and of course I had to go in. I sat around in the Jury gathering room for 2 1/2 hours waiting to go to trial (there were 3 scheduled today). I did manage to get several chapters for school read, so I can't complain too much. Once there everybody introduced themselves, several questions were asked, and then we were made to wait for another half hour. When we got back for the lawyers to decide who they wanted, the defense lawyer wigged me out by staring at me a lot. I was sitting right in front of him, so it could be that I was just in his line of sight, but after awhile I just looked down at my lap, and stayed that way till the judge announced the jurors. Luckily I was not one of them, and I got to go home. I got sleep in, I didn't have to serve on jury duty, and I had the rest of the day to spend as I pleased. Thank you 3rd District Court for giving me a day off of work.
