Work

Work seems to be flying by these days, which makes me really happy! We started a new project a couple of weeks ago, and it's crazy the amount of work there is. Of the 100+ "agents" in our two facilities (Ephraim and South Jordan), we have to request and get records for over 40,000 different patients. This is, of course, on top of the other requests we still have to work. We'll also be getting an additional 4,000-6,000 from a different insurance provider in a couple of weeks. We got a little behind last week because the system was down for about an hour, so they let us work overtime. It's nice making extra money!! The requests we are making is for HEDIS, which is the medical equivalent to hotel ratings (kind of). If I work there long enough it will be interesting to see how Obamacare will change the system we now have.
The highlight of work is today I pulled in my first 3 digits of record retrieval in one day! Yes, it's sad to get excited about that, but it's nice to see the fruits of my labor. There is a daily log kept of calls made and records received for each person on the call floor. Normally I'm average, or below, but today I was in the top 5, possibly the top 3!
When we get new projects I'm always leery of the way the call needs to be done and making sure I don't mess up. The only change that is really made is different verbiage and deadlines. Because of the high work load, I have a hard time getting through my assigned calls. Last week I did it for the first time on Friday, and that's only because of all the overtime people worked. I try to get the oldest ones worked on, but that's always in between the stuff that comes up after I complete a call.
Anyway, that's the highlight of my working life. I go to work everyday and try to not make anybody mad (either at work or on the phone), try to get a lot of stuff done, and try not to get in anyone's way. Because of this, by the time I get home I'm too tired to want to do any of the things I need to do. Thus I have several days where I play catch up with classes. There is one class in particular I've fallen behind in, but luckily it hasn't affected my assignments. But "lucky" me, I had a presentation yesterday (which I think went okay), a reading assignment due tomorrow, and a power point presentation I have to create by Friday. And this weekend I have class. It's not going to be a fun week school-wise.
