Publishing

I've noticed that I haven't written much this year, and I can't help but wonder why that is. I think some of it is that this is a blog about me and working at a library, and I don't always have much that I feel is blog-worthy at work. The other part is there really isn't much going on with me, so what's to post?
This semester has been a struggle for me thus far. I've been feeling the burnout, and I wish someone would have told me that I would have this problem halfway through the program. I've been keeping caught up enough to turn in my assignments, but I generally start much later than is wise. I had a management paper due last Sunday, and I wasn't sure I was writing it the way the professor wanted, so I stressed and struggled how to write it correctly. I got feedback today (less than a week after turning it in!), and the feedback was all positive!! It's great getting feedback so quickly, and knowing that my professor thought it was a well-written paper makes the victory that much sweeter.
As I mentioned several posts ago, there is a full-time job opening at a local university, but I haven't applied for it yet. I haven't had the time or motivation to create a CV for a job I'm not sure I'm qualified for. One of the things they want is someone that will publish papers. I've never viewed myself as a writer, and it seems like all the ideas have been covered pretty well up to this point. I recently did an interview with the Manuscripts Curator at the U, and something he said is get published, even if it's not one of the major library magazines. After interviewing him, I was kind of excited to do something that would get published. Who doesn't want to see their work out there for all the world to see? I AM writing a blog after all. I'm considering working on the paper I just got feedback on and seeing if I can get it published. I'm nervous and excited about the idea. So if anybody wants to help me, I could use all the help I could get.
Work is going pretty well. Last week I was given the project of updating the staff handbook, and I'm excited because there were already several changes I wanted to make. There are several changes I know I want to make, so I'll be editing one of the books already printed and getting it cleared before I make the changes to the document. It's great when I get to help with training and management aspects. Working with two or three people during my shift, there really isn't much call for management skills because the night staff know what they're doing, and there isn't much conflict at night. On another note, my supervisor told me I should consider taking the management training the school offers, so that may be something I'll be doing in the fall. I love that I'm considered part of the management team, and they want me to continue to learn and explore the field.
