On Wednesday I tweaked my back lifting my bed while making my bed. I've been feeling rather old with my birthday coming up, and this didn't exactly make me feel young and fit. So most of Wednesday was spent on my back with a heating pad to try and relax the muscles. I hurt the lower part of my back, where the back meets behind, so it makes doing things difficult. Wednesday it pretty much hurt to move at all, and my mobility was severely limited. Thursday got a little better, and I went into work. I was kind of bummed not to go into work on Wednesday; I haven't missed much work since I first started here. I made it through the day, but my back wasn't exactly happy with me at the end of the day. Luckily I had the car, so I didn't have to spend 20-40 minutes on a bus. Friday was spent on my back to try to speed up the healing process, but it didn't really work. I can do most of my back stretches, but not all, so that's causing other problems as well. So I've started taking anti-inflammatories to help. I hardly ever take pain-killers, just not my way, so it's been weird to take them four days in a row. I'm hoping to get a little better each day and be back to normal some time next week.
Once that happens I plan on doing everything I can to strengthen my back to hopefully keep this from happening again. I've only been doing half of the stretches I was given to do while in physical therapy, so it may be time to start doing all of them again. Hopefully the weather will continue to get warmer so I can start bike riding and walking outside to increase my strength and endurance. Maybe I'll finally get my butt into a gym, and start swimming again.
