I can't believe the year is already half over, much less that we're almost halfway through July! Where has the time gone? I'm pretty sure summer semester just started a week ago. There are only about 4 weeks left, 3 if you don't include finals week. I can't believe the semester is almost over, and I only have one left!! I thought I would take a class in the spring, but that doesn't look like it's going to happen b/c I don't think it's going to be offered. So I will either be taking 9 credits this fall (4 classes) or 4 credits (2 classes). I want to get an emphasis in Archiving, since that is a profession I would love to get into - go figure considering I'm a history major. If I can't get the emphasis, I think I will just relax for my last semester. I don't want to extend my education any more than I already have, so it's nice knowing I will be done after one last semester.
This semester has been pretty demanding, and I've been having problems getting motivated and getting caught up, until the last minute that is. I had a big project due in my database class, and the only reason I got it done was I spent the day of and day before it was due reading! I have class this weekend, and I look forward to seeing my classmates and learning more from Randy Silverman.
Work has been interesting. We got rid of about 28,000 books, and hundreds (maybe thousands) of magazines. It looks the weeding is going to continue, but on a much smaller scale by the cataloging department. I finally finished updating the training manual, but I feel like there is the possibility of covering so much more. Two of the supervisors have read the manual, and now we're just waiting for the final okay before printing it. We finally hired someone after about 1 1/2 months of being understaffed in the evenings, and she's working out great. She's only worked three days thus far, but they're long days, and she seems a quick study. Now that the two major projects are done, I think I'll be finding another project to work on. I may be writing a manual for scratch for ILL, which is an exciting thought. I kind of like writing manuals, at least the basic one I've done so far. I never really thought I would like doing management, but it's turned out to be very rewarding for me.
Other than that, there isn't much to report. I've seen or talked to several friends that I haven't talked to in a really long time and it's been fun catching up! I should stay in better touch with my friends, but I'm terrible at it. Email? Sure. Talking on the phone? Not so much. I went to a church dance several weeks ago and had a blast. Once things slow down at school I'm going to try to go dancing more often. I miss it a lot, and it's a great way to stay energetic! My ward has a lot of activities that I'm looking forward to, hopefully I'll get to go to most of them. I'm a little sad that summer is halfway over, and I haven't had too many adventures. Guess I'll have to spend the rest of the summer making up for that!
