Life is good

We have reached the halfway point of the semester!! That has consisted mostly of me doing a lot of readings and postings and trying to stay afloat while just wanting to be done. Thankfully I'm almost done with one class, and then I can focus entirely on my two other classes. It's been interesting learning about different reference tools, as well as how best to present them. If you get a chance, I would recommend reading "In Pursuit of Elegance" by Matthew May. It gives some great suggestions on how to present information and ideas. This book is great for anybody, not just librarians.
Work is going extremely well. I've found a schedule that works for me (the tasks themselves, not my actual hours). It's great being busy, and I finished the training manual for interlibrary loans! Of course, it's only the first draft, but it's great to have all the major work done. Now the fine tuning begins.  And right as I'm finishing my draft I find out that one of the software programs we are using is about to be upgraded, so I will have to learn how to use the new system. I've been told it's a different interface, but the process itself is much easier. Hopefully I'll be able to learn the changes by the time we upgrade (which may be around December). The blog is going well at the library. This month is Halloween/Hispanic themed. I've been focusing on the Halloween aspect, and it's been fun learning different things about the holiday. For instance, did you know Halloween is based off of a Celtic festival? I thought that was pretty cool. If you haven't had enough of blogs yet, you should check it out and tell me what you think. :-) http://libweb.slcc.edu/library-blog
There will be changes coming in the next couple of weeks that I'm excited for. If all goes according to plan, I will be buying a car and pursuing new adventures. Life will be pretty hectic, and I hope I can make it through the way I would like. Once I know for sure, I will share the good news.
