Each morning as I walk to either the city or school bus stop, I am increasingly bundled up. I've been able to see my breath all week. I generally leave every morning around 7:45am, if I'm on time, maybe 5 minutes later if I'm running late. I haven't switched to my down coat yet, but I go out every morning with my gloves and scarf. On the way to school my focus is getting to where I'm going so my blood will circulate and I'm not thinking about how cold it is. It generally takes me 10-15 minutes to get to a bus stop (the school bus stop is farther away).
On the way home, the day is generally a little bit warmer (although that's not the case if the canyon winds are blowing. BRRRR!!!). So I generally take the school bus to the stadium parking, and then I walk the rest of the way home. Sometimes if I time it right, I can catch the city bus, and take a couple blocks out of my walking. You wouldn't think that's a big deal, but after a day of being swamped with knowledge, the break can be nice. Anyway, one of the side streets I walk down has a lot of trees. Those leaves are turning orange and, and are turning crunchy!! That's my favorite thing about fall: crushing those crispy, crunchy leaves. I'm not quite giddy enough to giggle and run back and forth through the leaves (I definitely did that as a kid though!) as I crunch them, but I will go out of my way to step on the crunchy leaves. For some reason, there is nothing as satisfying in the fall as stepping on and crushing those leaves. It lightens my spirits, and it's just FUN!
