Life is fun!

As many of you know, my library job is only a temporary summer position. I spoke with one of my supervisors this week, and he is extending it to mid-September! This is very exciting, especially since I didn't work as a substitute this week, and I don't know the next time I will work in Weber County. There is a chance I might be hired on as a permanent employee, but he wants to speak with the other supervisors to get their feeling on the subject. Of course, one was on vacation for the last two weeks and he's going to be out of town till next week, so it might be awhile before I hear anything. Regardless, I'm happy to have an extension. I really love working here! I get a feel for what it's like in an academic library, I'm gaining more hands on experience, and I enjoy working with my coworkers. I've been cross trained in media, helped out in technical services (relabeling books, but still it's something!), and I hope to be cross trained in reference. There was a job opening there, but it was during the evenings, and I'm hoping to continue to work two jobs to get more experience and, let's face it, more money. Since I have no guarantee of work with Weber County as a substitute, and I haven't heard anything back from Salt Lake County, I applied for a position with the Salt Lake City Public Library. If I get it it would mean a shorter commute, as well as more benefits!
I've made some great friends at work. We've already gone camping, we went to a party last night, we're going for sushi next week, and we're planning a trip in October! Luckily most things will be paid for by the time my extension runs out (if they don't hire me permanently).
I was planning on chopping my hair this weekend, but it's not quite long enough so I have to continue to let it grow. I don't know if I'll be able to chop it this year, but when I do, I will be excited! I never do anything with my hair these days, and I'm too impatient to try to do something with so much hair. So it will be nice to have less hair that I can play with.
