I had my Lia Sophia party yesterday, and it was a lot of fun! I stressed about everything: having enough food, people coming, games being fun, the house being clean enough. I should have planned things better, but I did all of my cleaning within 24 hours before the party started. I wasn't sure what rooms people would be getting in, so I (and my mom) cleaned basically everything but the bedrooms. It was like spring cleaning; I even did some extra cleaning in the bathroom downstairs (which is still in the process of being completed) and it looks 10 times better, at least I think so. It's sad that it took a party to make me want the house to look nice, I should always want the house to look nice. I'm always proud when the house looks nice, I'm just generally lazy to get it to that point on a regular basis.
Back to the party. I bought a ton of food - I don't bake nor do I have the skills or time to make the stuff I served. I only had about 8 people say they would come for sure, and several maybes. I mailed out about 15 invitations and invited about 40 people through facebook. I ended up with 7 people coming, some who said they had planned on coming, but a few of the originals ended up not coming. I was hoping for a slightly larger crowd, parties are always more fun in larger numbers, but I thought it turned out well. My friend who was the advisor brought a mad gab type game to talk about the jewelry and the company, people seemed to be having fun, and the food was a hit. I wasn't sure if that many people would buy stuff, but I was my friend's first qualified party (selling at least $250 in jewelry)! I'm glad it worked out for her, and on top of the necklaces I got for hosting the party, I get to get more jewelry for cheap!!
It was fun seeing my friend again, we're both so busy with our lives and I don't have a car anymore, so we don't get to see each other very often. After the party left we sat around chatting and catching up. Things are exciting in her life, which makes me very happy for her. It's been a tough year or so for her. After the party was done, and everybody had left, I was relieved! I had never thrown a party before, and it was nice to have a success for my first time. Most of the food was eaten, there wasn't much left to clean up, and then I got to relax for the rest of the day.
So thanks for everybody that came, I hope you had fun! If there is anybody that wants to buy jewelry, my event will be open through next Friday afternoon. The deal for the month is buy two items get the third one half off, and if you want to buy more you can get up to three earrings or bracelets at half off as well. If you want to buy something, you can either contact me or my advisor. You can pay by cash, check, or credit card, but I'll need whatever payment method you're going to use by Friday. Her website is http://www.liasophia.com/sites/jessicastanley, it has the catalog as well as her contact information.

Hey Kandice, are you living in a house these days? Do you have roommates? Sorry, I haven't been good with the whole staying updated bit. For one, we haven't had the internet at home, which we do now thanks to our neighbors letting us hookup to their wireless. Sounds like your party was a success. I've done a pampered chef party and three people showed up, so you're doing GREAT in my book.
