Our Soldiers

As with all patriotic holidays, my thoughts turn to those that are serving their country. I don't think I ever thought about it in peace time, but now that there is a war going on, and has been for five years, I can't help but think of all they have sacrificed. Are they safe? Do they get a chance to enjoy the holiday? Are they watching one of the many concerts that I know is being broadcasted overseas? Since my brother joined the Army Reserve, and is now serving his second tour, whenever I see something soldier related, I think of him. I've become a little sensitive about our soldiers, and it always warms my heart to see the acts of kindness and love towards them. A few years ago there was a commercial, or little clip, of soldiers walking through the airport. The civilians stood up and gave them a standing ovation for a welcome home. A friend of mine stationed in Denver was surprised by a veteran who paid for his breakfast on the 4th. The love and support of our soldiers, especially in a war that isn't particularly popular, is great. I can only hope that my brother and friends that are serving overseas are recipients of these acts of kindness.
I have two friends overseas who have left their wife and family to serve overseas. Without questioning why, they willing left to serve. I respect the men and women who will put their life on hold to serve their country. I am grateful that they love their country enough to serve and protect. Thank you.
