The last couple of weeks have been pretty interesting. I had a job interview, which didn't turn out well, but it's the first one I've had in a long time. I've been going to the gym pretty regularly, at least three times a week, and I've started going in mornings. That means I have a lot of awake time, but at least I'm starting to have a normal sleep schedule.
I got to go up to Logan last Monday night and hang out with the Hartleys! Luckily it hadn't snowed in awhile, so the roads were clear. We got to catch up, decorate a tree, eat pizza, play, cajole, and punish children - all around a good evening. It was nice getting out of the house for awhile, and getting out of Salt Lake. I kind of miss Logan b/c the area is small, and it takes only about ten minutes max to get anywhere. I'm lucky if that's the minimum time it takes me to get anywhere. But it's nice having so much around (if I actually go out and do anything).
It's weird living at home during the Christmas season, but not in a bad way. I'm not used to so many people dropping by with little food gifts for Christmas. My sweet tooth should be covered for the next week or so, at least I hope so. Mom's made snickerdoodles and sweet bread, and of course with the holiday season there is now slush! It's been forever since I've had that.
Yesterday I got to go to my Grandma C.'s house and help with the sugar cookies. I didn't realize until yesterday how many cookies she made, and apparently she's been doing it for about 50 years! Her cookies are that good, and I'm not just saying that b/c I'm biased! Anyway, there was a good size snow storm yesterday, but before it got bad I helped cut about 198 cookies. Yeah, my grandma makes a lot of cookies, and gives most of them away. After they were all cut and baked, which took about three hours to do, I left so I could get home at a decent time. I stopped at the library to pick some stuff up, and it took me about an hour to get home. Lots of slow and careful driving. I was so tired from the gym, cleaning, and cookie cutting that I was half tempted to take a little catnap while I waited for everybody to move!
I'm so broke this year, that I'm not doing many gifts, and they're all going to be pretty small. Not that I buy that many gifts this time of year. I can't decide if I should be happy or sad with how few Christmas gifts I'm giving this year. Oh well, it's what my budget can handle. It's going to be an interesting Christmas this year. My family won't be together like normal for Christmas, not that that is surprising. Jake and Krystal will come after spending Christmas with their spouses, and John will be in Argentina!
Up until a year ago, I used to give my parents a list with about a dozen things I wouldn't mind for Christmas, this year I had a hard time coming up with much I did want. My mother and I finally picked the fabric and style for four skirts (two knee length and floor length). Are jean skirts out of style again? Oh well, I'm finally getting some. My siblings still do a gift exchange, so I asked my brother to get me some dumbbells so I could work out at home, even if I don't go to the gym. Other than that, I can't think of anything I need. I'm living at home, I don't have to use any of my kitchen stuff and my mom has what I need if I do need to cook or bake anything. I don't want clothes b/c I'm hoping to fit in the stuff I have again at some point. But that's neither here nor there. Maybe I'll just get help with my books for the upcoming semester (which starts on the 13th).
