I got a job!!

Sometime last week I got a call from the Weber County Library System asking if I was still interested in their substitute program. I told them I was still interested. I guess they were just sending out feelers because I haven't heard anything since. She said I would get called to come up and fill out paperwork and take a drug test. The training would be about 40 hours, but it wouldn't happen for a couple of weeks. Once I get enough hours under my belt I'll be able to apply for in house job postings, which could help land me something more permanent.
I also applied for a Salt Lake County Library job last week. It's kind of funny because the job listing is Customer Service Specialist. After reading the job posting, it's for the circulation desk and shelving. I was amused that they were spicing up the job title. But the pay is great, and I talked to my adviser who works in the system. She said she would try to find out who's doing the hiring and put in a good word for me. From what I heard they were hiring about 6 people for 20, 30, and 40 hour schedules.
But the piece de resistance is that SLCC called me yesterday and offered me the job!!!! I think it's funny when I finally don't feel confident about an interview is when they decide to hire me, not that I'm complaining. What's even better is that they want me to start on Thursday! Since there were two postings, they gave me the job with the most hours (29), which I love! So I'll be working in the mornings, Monday through Friday, and will be done with work at 1:30 at the latest. I'll also not have to worry about working on the weekends. The job is only temporary; they can only guarantee I'll have a job through mid-August, but it's a start! I finally have my foot in the door.
Hopefully I'll hear back from the Weber County Library System and be able to start that as well. It would be even better if I heard back from the Salt Lake County Library System and got hired there too. Work in the mornings at SLCC and work in the evenings at a public library. It's been awhile since I've had two jobs, but I think I could handle it.
