Kansas/Foreigner/Styx

I got tickets a few weeks ago to this concert, one of the radio stations was giving them at a discounted price. I thought I would be able to find someone to go with me, but I left it too long. I couldn't find anyone to go with me, so I decided I would go see them on my own. Who knew if I would ever get the opportunity to see them again. I'm glad I went, it was a great concert!
I got to Miller Motorsports Park about 40 minutes before the concert started. Since I was by myself, I didn't bother taking a blanket to lay on the ground. I also tried to get as close to the stage as I wanted to get a great view, I was about 50-100 feet from the stage on the right hand side (I'm not very good at guessing distances). I ended up sitting next to this guy named Tom. He's from the area, and we occasionally chatted while we waited for the concert to start. While we were waiting for the concert to start I was looking around at the crowd. Closer to the stage was an older man and a younger girl, who seemed like they were together. While that seemed kind of pedophilic, I wasn't going to judge. But the thing I thought was interesting was that she was totally wasted. It seems like she got more wasted as the night went on. But she was really friendly and happy, so I guess it could have been worse.
Before I talk about the concert, for once I was able to take a camera, so I brought mine. Of course I haven't used my camera in forever, so I didn't think to charge the battery. So when I tried to use it I couldn't because it was DEAD. Lame.
Kansas was pretty good. I knew about 3 of their songs, and I enjoyed them. They didn't get me jamming though, I just kind of stood there and listened. Foreigner was my favorite. I knew all their songs but three (two of which were new). But they got the crowd jamming, were fun, and interactive (as much as they can be anyway). The lead singer was fabulous! Very entertaining, he even climbed one of the columns. The crowd was most excited for Styx and started trying to get as close as possible. Up to this point I still had space, but there was a lot of crowding at that point. I don't know Styx very well, so I wasn't as excited with Styx as I was with Foreigner. The crowd was excited, that's for sure. I was kind of sad they didn't play Mr. Roboto, only played as part of a medley intro. I had heard all of the songs, but I only knew about half of them, and even then it was only snippets of the song not the whole thing.
As a whole I had a blast at the concert. I wore the wrong shoes though, they were too worn so my arches and heels were killing me most of the night. It took about as long to get out of the parking lot as it did to get home. It was well worth the money to go, and even though I bought two tickets, I still paid less than the cost of one ticket. I would definitely go to a concert like that again if given the chance (and it wasn't too expensive).
