Last night I met up with a friend who I used to work with at MediConnect. It was great seeing her, we've always been able to talk and have a good time (even at work). She caught me up on the company, and a lot of people are gone. I realized I didn't remember a lot of people, but I recognized the names. We went to dinner at the Bay Leaf Cafe, which was a little over-priced but the food was decent. We met downtown (where I never go) and I got there a little early. So I decided to read. Well, I was parked underground so I turned on the dome light. I got a little distracted, so I was running late. I get out of the car and walk away before I realized I left the keys in the ignition and the dome light on. You're probably thinking that is really dumb, who forgets to do that stuff? But in my defense my car doesn't always decide to inform me when I'm about to do something dumb like leave the light on or leave the keys in the ignition. The beeping doesn't always happen, which has caused me to kill my car several times. Plus, whenever I'm in a hurry, I always forget something without fail. Of course my window is fixed now, so I couldn't just push the window down (although I still tried, I hope I didn't break it again!). I ended up calling my parents to ask them to bring me my spare keys, which I'm glad I gave them. I felt bad b/c they hate coming downtown, and they were about to eat as well. They said they would, so I went to meet my friend for dinner. My phone was dying, so I decided to turn it off. When dinner was almost over, I turned on my phone and found out my parents got downtown ten minutes previously. Luckily when I called them they were still in the area and I was able to get my keys. Since I left in such a rush, my friend said she would take care of the bill (I left my food there, which I wasn't finished with, and it was gone when I got back. It was sad).
After dinner we went to make sure my car was still alive. The light was still on, so I took it as a good sign (I was able to drive home, so I think I'm safe). So I got my keys, put the spares in the glove box, turned of the light, and locked up again. We waited just to make sure the light would go off. Of course this would be the time it takes a minute or two to turn off instead of a couple of seconds.
We got done with dinner really early (yay for being rushed!) and when we got to the bar, which was right across the street, there was hardly anyone there. It was rainy and kind of cold, but we didn't want to go in right away. We didn't see a coffee place anywhere near, so we just stood in the entrance to Sam Weller's bookstore (which I now have finally seen, and maybe someday I'll go in). We stood and talked for about a half hour and went into the bar around 9:00pm. I've never really been to a bar (I don't count the bars in Logan), so I was surprised to see it so empty. Don't get me wrong, there were people there, but it wasn't very full. Kyra, the friend I went with, said the bars generally don't get hopping until about 10:00. Since I was still hungry I got a cheesecake, which was okay. Nothing like my moms (my mom makes the best!), definitely out of a premade box that you might get at Sam's Club or something, but it was okay.
The music and atmosphere was fun. The piano players were funny, their playing was good, and they had pretty decent voices. A guy actually had to sing Prince and he did very well with that. There were some bad song choices, so I'm glad people paid to stop the song and play something else. I thought about submitting a couple of songs, but of course I couldn't think of the titles, and the one song I wanted to play I was pretty sure would be paid to stop ("Never Gonna Give You Up" by Rick Astley, yes I was going to rick roll the bar but I actually really like the song!). Plus, by the end of the night I spent almost $40 and I didn't want to spend anymore to request a song (which is required if you want it to be played). We left shortly after 11:00pm b/c my friend had homework to work on and had to get up early to go to work. It was a lot of fun, but I don't know if I'll be doing that again. Plus, it's really weird hearing songs from the Classic Rock era being played on the piano. I'm sorry, but Def Leppard should NEVER be played on the piano, it just doesn't sound right! Oh, and Bohemian Rhapsody, not so good on the piano either.
