First week and a half of Fall semester

Well, the first 1 1/2 weeks of Salt Lake Community College is almost over. I've been given the job of  being in work before opening in case I'm needed as part of my new responsibilities. This means that I'm off work by 1:00pm every day. At the beginning of the week it's not so much fun because that's when everybody else is trying to leave. But today and yesterday weren't too bad.
I've been told by coworkers that when school is in full swing, it gets pretty busy. While there have been times of being really busy, it's not that way throughout my shift. So there are some days, like today, that I'm ready to be done with work much sooner than my actual off time. Luckily I have my iPod with me when I'm shelf reading, so that helped the time go by much faster. We got all the books from the closed library done, with the exception of the books for my library. Of course we've found out that the deadline has been changed for the new library because there have been construction delays. They don't think it will be operational until October (they were planning on originally having it operational by the beginning of fall semester)!
On a different note, one of my coworkers is quitting after today, which makes me sad. She's one of the coworkers I've gotten to know really well. On a positive note, the other girl that got hired as a temp the same time as me is now a regular employee too.
I can't tell you how many people ask the same questions. It's not so much Where is the bathroom? (although I have gotten several of those), it's more of finding out how to get wi-fi for their laptops and where buildings are. I find it highly entertaining that everybody on campus expects the library to be the fountain of answers for all questions. I've heard of people asking for a print out of a schedule, as well as answers that should be answered by other people in the library. I guess the circulation desk is more friendly and accessible than the reference desk or lab aid desk. To be fair though, reference desks are not very approachable in general. Most reference librarians I've met or heard about are very quiet, not exactly polite, and seem to not want to help people very much. Kind of funny when you consider that is the whole point of their job and profession, but what do I know? I'm just a library patron, worker, and student.
