The first week of classes have gone by pretty fast. I can't believe that it's already Friday. Of course I still have one more class to go to today, but I'm pretty sure I'm not going to have too bad a time in Latin. It is Latin after all, and Damen loves us because we're learning a language he loves, and we're translating the Art of Love by Ovid, which he also enjoys. Ancient Near East and Latin are probably going to be my hardest classes. Luckily I have some Latin people in my ANE class, so it will make it easier to find study buddies if I need to. My interpersonal communications class is pretty cool. We pretty much demonstrate social norms, and the opposite. We've only done a bit of reading, and it seems class is mostly discussion so I haven't really taken many notes. I don't start my archiving internship till next week because the librarian I'm doing it with is out of town for the week. Swimming is good, I get a work out and I'm improving my not so good muscles (I'm worried mostly about my ankle and back).
Wednesday night, the coolest thing happened. In Logan, the Smith's food and drug store does a night of shopping that is just for the USU students. It's from 11-1, there's food, raffles, prizes, the whole bit. And if you spend $25 you get a bag of random stuff, one of which is a little booklet of coupons. I made three sets of purchases, and therefore got three bags. Around midnight I was tired and ready to go home (I'm generally in bed by 11pm at the latest, I'm so old!! ;-}). But I wanted to see if I would win anything, and I had three chances (each student was only supposed to get one ticket, but they gave me a ticket every time I went inside to make another round of purchases). Just as I was about ready to go home, one of my tickets was called!! I was so excited. I don't think I've won anything since I graduated from high school (I won $200 at the Sr. party on graduation night). So I got to pick a balloon, and I had to pop it sitting in a lip shaped chair. I didn't weigh enough, so I had to pop it with my nails while I was sitting on it. And wouldn't you know, I won a bike!! It was a Schwinn turbo bike, or something like that, worth about $200, and that was the largest prize amount of the night! I already have a bike, so I had no idea what to do with the thing. They said I could pick it up on Thursday, so that gave me time to think. So I go to the store, and I tell the person at the customer service desk that I already have a bike, and I was wondering if I could trade it in for something. She gave me a gift card for a little less than the value of the bike!!! So now I don't have to worry about paying for groceries for the next little while!! And if I want to, I can splurge and buy a steak or something!! I'm really excited about this, it's just been a good week. And it's a three day weekend!! I don't have any plans, but I will be sleeping in on Monday (I have to work at 10 on Saturday at the museum, and church starts at 9am on Sunday). Yea for free stuff!!

That's so awesome that you won a bike and were able to trade it for a gift card! (I didn't know they did a student night like that at Smiths...)
How did the Saturday go at the museum? Did anyone show up? I know it was something about libraries around the world. That sounded really interesting. I'd like to hear more about it.
