Playing Hooky

Yesterday was a very fun and tiring day. I decided that I was going to take one of my sick days since it seems unlikely that I will ever work the government again(although there is always a possibility), and there's still so much to do. So a couple of us from work decided to go to the Post Office Pavillion (beautiful view from the top of the tower, above the bells), Ford Theater (closed for renovation), The House Where Lincoln Died (that's what it says at the entrance to the building. Sad that it doesn't have a less depressing name), Hard Rock Cafe (Awesome music, food was okay, and I bought my one and only DC shirt (DC is written in small print, the way it should be)), The Castle (Smithsonian), the Jim Henson Exhibit, and the International Spy Museum.
The Jim Henson Exhibit was fabulous! It's been a long time since I'm watched anything Jim Henson. It was great being reminded of stuff I loved to watch as a kid. They had a bunch of Henson's drawings, pictures, and puppets. I was very excited to see some from Fraggle Rock, and I took a picture (You're not supposed to take pictures there, but I had to sneak this one). The three of us turned into a bunch of kids remembering the shows and whatnot. So, on the way back up the escalator, Cassie and I decided to see how long we could hold swinging on our arms (the escalator was only wide enough for one person at a time). We would have lasted longer except one of the sides stopped moving and totally threw off my balance. But it was a lot of fun. Everybody should act like a kid every once in awhile, it will keep you young.
The International Spy Museum was pretty cool. Unfortunately it was at the end of the day, so I wasn't as excited for it as I should have been. We did the spy adventure, which was pretty fun and amusing. The permanent exhibits were interesting, but I no longer had the attention span and my knees were killing me from all of the standing. All in all a very fun day.
I'm glad today is Friday, and I still have the weekend to do more stuff.

Sounds like loads of fun! I just saw a sign for the Hensen exhibit and want to see it. Now I am even more excited to go. :)
