I realized I changed the name of my blog, but I haven't really posted anything library-esque, at least nothing on the subject other than how things are going in school. So I thought I would post a couple of great quotes from some of my text books. Enjoy!
"We do not state these propositions in the comfortable belief that what people read is unimportant. We believe rather that what people read is deeply important; that ideas can be dangerous; but that the suppression of ideas is fatal to a democratic society. Freedom itself is a dangerous way of life, but it is OURS [bold and uppercase added]." - The Freedom to Read Statement created by the American Library Association and American Book Publishers Council
"In order to have a debate, we must first be civil. Civility is the public manifestation of our private morality. It requires that we be fair and charitable to those who disagree with us. That is precisely what we are missing."p. 12 of The Principles of Information Ethics by Richard Severson
Let the contemplation begin!
