More training!

This week I got approached to see if I wanted to help with an archiving project. Of course this would coincide with my normal duties, but it would give me the opportunity to get away from the desk every once in awhile. The project is to copies of the school paper since the 50s (I think) to present organized and properly stored. So long as I can have time to work on the project, I'm excited. I get to gain more experience in my possibly chosen field, I get away from the circulation desk, and I get to do something different! I'm feeling particularly stingy, so I don't really want to share the project with anyone else, but there is probably a deadline for these things so I may end up sharing the duties at some point. Either way, I'm looking forward to what it is that I get to do. I officially met the guy in charge of archiving, and it turns out he was once the interim dean of the library once or twice. He's a very happy fellow.
On a different note, I found there may be one or two openings soon in supervisor positions. One is a night/weekend position, and I'm trying to decide if I want to apply. Of course I do, but there are several things I would have to consider, one of them being that I may have to get a car sooner than I would like to. I'm hoping to drive myself to start learning the different blog sites so I can start teaching some of the classes and further ingrain myself in the library. Who knows, maybe someday I'll be an actual librarian there. Either way, the more experience the better!
