I have a firm belief in a good handshake. It shows confidence and professionalism, at least in my opinion. The reason I bring this up is because my supervisors have commented several times on what a great handshake I have. One has even said it's the best handshake in the world. I was thinking about it the other day, and I think the reason I have such a great handshake is because of the LDS missionaries.
I grew up outside of Utah, and we used to have the missionaries over for dinner all the time. There were some missionaries I had the hugest crush on, and one or two that I grew quite close to. There was even one missionary I used to write after he transferred out the area. In case you don't know, the LDS missionaries shake hands a lot. As a kid and teenager they used to give people grief for a flimsy handshake, maybe it was just the kids. I can't remember a time when I didn't think a firm handshake was the best way to go.
The idea of a flimsy handshake just makes me uncomfortable and awkward. What are you supposed to do with that kind of handshake? Who wants to shake hands with a fish?
So in case you are wondering, a firm handshake is the best way to go.
