Changes at the library
Because the library is being remodeled/changed, it has been decided to get rid of 20,000 books. It's crazy the changes that are supposed to take place this summer! Friday I spent most of my shift helping pull books off the shelf. I wish I could help decide what books to pull off, but I don't have enough experience yet. So in about 5 hours I helped pull over 2,500 books off the shelf. Luckily I was anticipating this for the day, so I dressed accordingly. I tried to force myself to take the stairs most of the day, unless I was pushing a cart of course. By the time I stopped I felt my fingers were going to fall off and I was having a bad bought of arthritis, and my back was definitely sore. We need to have the 11 stacks emptied within the next week so construction can start. Another exciting change is the library is going to switch to electronic books going forward, so buying books will be done rarely. I never thought the library would so quickly go the way of popular change, I figured the change would happen more slowly. I'm just glad I get to be part of the change and get to learn even more! Not to mention I'll help move books, so I'll definitely get a work out in this week! It took two days for my thighs to recover from Friday, I had no idea it could hurt going DOWN the stairs.
