I finally cleaned out my storage unit!! I wish I had thought of this sooner, because that would have saved me about $175 in storage fees! Okay, I'm done with the exclamation points. Last week I went to the storage unit and took a load, and I realized I only had to make a few more trips to get the unit cleaned out. So I went to the storage unit on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday to get it done. Most of the trips this week were to get the big items, so I didn't always take that big a load to my apartment, but it's been a lot of work on my back, so I didn't try to push too much on each trip. Wednesday I got the mattress and box springs tossed with the help of a coworker. We also got the frame/springs/bottom thing back to my apartment. He was nice enough to lend his car and his services to help me get it moved. Unfortunately it meant that we had to have our knees in the dashboard to make it fit. Thursday was getting the lock and trying to get my bike in the car to take it for a tune up. It took me about twenty minutes to get it in (I got it in my car once, and I couldn't figure out how I did it), and I ended up tearing part of the lining on the ceiling of my car. Apparently it will cost me at least $100 to get the bike fixed, and that's doing the bare minimum. But it's cheaper than getting a new bike, unless I want to go to Wal-Mart, which is a store I try to avoid. It will be fixed by Tuesday, and hopefully it won't cost more than the estimate to get it running. The guy was nice enough to answer all of my questions and give his honest opinion, which is why I love local stores.
I've been going through boxes as I bring them back from the storage unit to make sure I still want to keep what's in it before I pack it up again. I've already taken two loads of papers to the recycling bin, not to mention the papers I took to work to shred. I've got a decent size load of stuff to take to the DI, but I want to wait till I go through all my books before I go. My front is overly crowded with stuff, so I'm hoping it won't take me too long to go through.
I finally cleaned a garbage can out that's been sitting in my storage unit for 2 years, which was kind of gross. I had a roommate who didn't think it was important to put a garbage bag in before dumping stuff. There was gum, hair, and dried otter pop stuff. So I did the smart thing and let the garbage can soak in cleaner before I started to clean it. Luckily it did the trick, and it only took about 5-10 minutes of scrubbing to get it clean enough that I could live with it.
On another note, my little brother is finally home!! He's been on his second deployment (don't even get me started on how I feel about the army right now), and he got stateside around the second or so week of February. He had to be demobilized, or whatever they call it, in Indiana before flying back to Las Vegas. He then went to a Renaissance fair or something in Arizona, which he had a lot of fun at. He finally got to Utah last Thursday. We talked for about a half hour, and apparently one of his meal requests is my dad's ribs. So I will be making a trip down to West Jordan this weekend. March 9th starts Spring Break, and unfortunately the school is pretty much shut down for the week, so I will be going down to Salt Lake once again. There's a family party, hopefully I'll finally make an appointment to see the dentist, spend some time with family, and maybe even see a few friends in Salt Lake, or even make a trip down to Utah County (but I'll have to see if I can handle a trip to the bubble).
I better get back to going through books so I have time to run errands before I go down and hang out with the fam. BTW, I LOVE my new ipod and laptop!!
