I had a fabulous Memorial Day Weekend. Saturday I went to IHOP for breakfast and watched my US Military History teacher give a lecture at the Museum of Anthropology, which went smashingly. Since it was a holiday weekend I was worried nobody would come. Other than me and two other people, the rest of the group was the summer citizens, and it was an interesting discussion. . . I'll leave it at that. The topic was "How War Changes Cultures," so I'm sure you can imagine some of the comments.
Monday was nice and relaxing. I slept in till after nine, and pretty much didn't do anything all day. We barbecued with my parent's neighbors, who have between the two of them 9 children. Thankfully the kids weren't too crazy, and even if they were, they were outside so they weren't crazy around the food.
The last two weeks haven't been all that exciting, other than the holiday. I've gotten to know my roommates a little better, and they're all interesting in their own way. I have finished the current seasons of Bones and House, which was nice. I've checked out about 7 or 8 books, but b/c I was so addicted to the shows I was watching, I haven't finished the first book I've started reading. I should be able to renew all of them, at least the ones I really want to read. I thought I wanted to read Vanity Fair, I saw the movie and thought it was good, but that book is a little too thick for me right now. So when I finish and take back The Picture of Dorian Gray, I will make sure to return that one as well.
I've done some job hunting lately, and as always, it's so much fun! I've applied for half a dozen jobs in the Salt Lake area, and these are actually jobs I wouldn't mind having. I hate the job hunt so much that I keep pushing off looking for something. It's made me miss a lot of opportunities, so I'm going to try and look for a job every Monday. That way I'll have a break, and a week isn't too long w/o looking for a job. I'm really hoping I find something before August 8, when my contract is up. I haven't bothered looking for a job in Cache Valley b/c, let's face it, I really don't want to stay here. It's beautiful and great, but I've always been something of a wanderer, it's time to move on.
On a lighter note, I'm hoping to get some camping and travelling in this summer/fall. One of the great things about not having classes, is it's a lot easier to plan trips. A friend and I are planning a trip to see 6 parks in Southern Utah/Arizona in seven days. It should be interesting to see what we plan, as well as if it will work with whatever work schedule I end up having. I do know that I will be leaving Utah for Pioneer Day weekend, which I'm excited about. I may actually see Park City within the next month or two, since I've never been in the seven years I've lived in Utah. Weird, I know, but there it is.
Well, I better finish my work day before I start day dreaming and planning.
