It was supposed to rain most of yesterday, and it seemed to, so I hadn't decided on whether or not I was going to walk. For some reason I woke up around 7:30, and so I looked outside and it wasn't raining. I was going to clean my apartment instead of going to commencement b/c it was supposed to rain from 6am on. Well, it wasn't raining when I looked outside, so I decided to walk and do commencement. I'm glad I did it because I doubt I'll ever do anything like this again, even if I do go to grad school. Commencement was actually rather boring. Sen. Bennett gave us a history lesson of the US, so I was only halfheartedly listening. At the end of Commencement, the degrees are "given", in that all of the colleges stand up and are presented. Well, my phone happened to be on my lap, so when I stood up I dropped it and broke my phone. It still works, it's just at the joint/bendy point area, it's only being held together on one side. I got one picture taken at Commencement. I would post it, but Blogger is being stupid.
The actual ceremony was a lot better. I got to sit next to the aisle on the side where my family was sitting so I constantly looked over at them and waved and such. I also got to sit next to one of my friends, so we spent most of the ceremony making fun of the speakers and just talking through most of it. When it was time to go up, I was nervous. I didn't want to trip, I didn't want my name said wrong, and I just wanted to get my degree folder thingy. The ceremony was just under 1 1/2 hours, and then we were out of there so the next college could go. It was a great experience, and I'm glad I got to do it. And I'm glad it's over!
After graduation, my siblings, parents, and grandparents came back to my place. We had an hour or so before our lunch reservation at Maddox, so everybody got to see where I live (at least for another few days), and we played Catch Phrase. It was fun, and the time flew by. Maddox was good, I've never eaten there before, and I enjoyed it. I like the corn pones, such good bread! I got the Top of Maddox, and found out that their filet mignon was good, and I don't like their fried chicken (I think it was fried) or their fried gulf shrimp, or whatever it's called. I was extremely full after I finished eating, and I just wanted to take a nap. The rest of the night was pretty tame, and I was glad for it. We did play Double 12s, which was a lot of fun.
Now that I'm graduated I need to look for a place to live. I think I've found a place, I just need to fill out the application and sign the contract. Hopefully I'll be able to move in on Tuesday or Wednesday so I can get out of my current apartment. I may actually unpack my dishes for the first time in two years! I will be working full time now, which makes me kind of sad. I was told all the projects I'll be working on this summer, so hopefully I won't be too bored with the eight hour days and all the things I need to do. Hopefully there will be a lot of breaks and a lot of fun times. I need to start the search for a job again. I check a few sites every few days, but there hasn't been a lot for me to apply for. I'm really hoping to get a research job, so if you hear of anything, let me know.
